Daniel Lloyd and his mom, Theresa
(FAYETTEVILLE) -- On a typical day, you can find Daniel Lloyd, 16, at
home. Daniel studies from the time he wakes up until the sun sets and
his studies are paying off.
He earned a perfect score on the ACT's.
“I felt pretty good about the test coming out the testing room,” Daniel
said. “I didn't think I had a perfect score."
The ACT's are a college admission placement test. Nearly 1.2 million
students like Daniel take the test yearly. The average score is 21 points.
Daniel scored 36.
"He had done well in the past but when I opened up that envelope,
I was very pleased,” said his mother, Theresa Lloyd.
Theresa is pleased and proud. She’s also his teacher. With a house of
seven brothers and sisters, the Lloyd’s are home schooled.
Statistically, home school students score about two points higher than
the average private or public school student.
Theresa said she's not surprised by those numbers. She said home schooling
provides fewer distractions and focuses more on academics.
But high scores and a love of baseball doesn't shed light on Daniel's
future plans.
"He's really good at a lot of things which is what makes if difficult
to narrow it down because there are a lot of different avenues he could
take,” she added.
Whatever avenue he chooses, his mother says his scores will be just
as high.
Daniel currently takes classes at Fayetteville Tech Community College.
He's getting ready to take his SAT’s.
